Careers with the highest divorce rates

On Behalf of | Sep 15, 2020 | Divorce

The career you choose does have an impact on the odds that you’ll get divorced. While it’s clear that every relationship is unique, you can still track the trends and see which careers have higher rates than others. If you work in one of these careers, it’s important to keep those divorce odds in mind.

What are some of the careers with the highest rates? A few of them include:

  • Bartenders
  • Casino managers
  • Casino workers
  • Flight attendants
  • Industrial workers
  • Telemarketers
  • Machine operators

One thing to consider is whether or not you have to work late hours. For instance, casino workers and bartenders may regularly be out until 2:00 a.m. or even later. This is when business really thrives. That’s great financially, but it also means less time to spend with your spouse or your family. It may also mean being on a different sleep schedule so that you’re in bed when your family is awake, even if you’re all at home.

Similarly, jobs that require travel can be taxing for your marriage since they mean you spend a lot of time apart from your spouse. This is part of the reason that flight attendants have high divorce rates. Your spouse may feel like the marriage is just not stable enough if you spend days or weeks at a time flying around the world, only stopping in occasionally to spend time together as a family.

No matter what job you do, if you find yourself moving closer to a divorce, take some time to carefully consider all of the legal steps you will need to take to protect your interests when it’s time to split from your spouse.
